waaaaahhhhhh!!!!oh my gosh we really didnt expect that we will be going back to the community for the presentation…it was all set that the presentation would be on 4th week and the rest of the 3rd week would all be alloted for the preparation and all that but why? why on earth that we have to present that early? the notice was soooo late!!! we barely do not have something to present in the first place!!!!

we tried our very very best to talk and call our CI asking them to give us more time to prepare but they didnt give us any they told us that we could bring all our materials and prepare everything right there and then…waaaaahhhhhh!!!! what should we do???? but do we have any choice?!? the answer—NO…whether we like it or not, prepared or not—WE HAVE TO DO IT!!!! oh good lord please help us finish everything up and be able to pull everything up….

THE BIG DAY HAS COME: AUGUST 8, 2008

everybody was not prepared…we were all worried of whats going to happen-if we could be able to finish it or not…bahala na! basta we have to get going….

so when we arrived at the place just like the previous week, we have to buy all our foods and supplies so we did…the only difference now was we also have to buy evrything that we need for the presentation….THERE IS REALLY SO MUCH STUFF TO DO…we barely do not know where to start!!!haiiiizzzz!!!

recharge…recharge…after this,we were all in the HUNGER STRIKE!!!

but for others…it was time to go and run for ourlives!!!we have bought snacks for presentation, supplies for decoration…and many many more…whew!!!

after buying everything and eating we were all headed up straight to our jeep and set to go…just like what i said no time to eat and all time for work…

no good breakfast…no time for lunch…no good food….waaaaahhhh thankd goodness my lord for the loaf bread and canton…

we were all freakin’ starving to death!!!

after lil break…work work work again…look at our spot map…its a total blank!!!we were all worried especially ate gen “how are we supposed to finish this thing up? lots and lots of things to do…

morning has come and we were still not in a very good shape…we have to finish the spotmap, the decoration of the stage, the foods for the presentation plus “the one to be presented-THE DATA” one more thing we still have to have a dry run!!! the clock is ticking and few hours before the said presentation we were still hanging on to not finishing everything…

everybody had not been fully rested…we had to got up early to wrap things up….we were all drained and exhausted…NO DINNER last night, NO BREAKFAST and LUNCH …”how are we going to make this without energy?!? we were all tense and worried…

our stage…backdrop…and not so energetic folks…

whew!!!after the last drop of blood…we finally finished everything up…its the moment of truth..verdict time!!!

haizzz…im back!!week 2 of community immersion…where would i start? of course from the very start…hahaha

JULY 29, 2008

so just like the previous week i woke up early early as a bee, around 3AM but here’s the catch my luggage got tamer hahaha i still got 2 bags but a lot lighter…so my dad was not around so i had no choice but to walk on my own…huhuhu scary but its ok!i finally arrived at the waiting place by 5:40AM lucky me graxa was already there…

after few more minutes around 6:30AM while we were waiting for the second bus we were all shocked when one of our groupmates have told us to went up in the 1st bus because our CI was already there and we have to leave…whew! he had no choice but to go in…only our gruop have been there in the 1st bus and the rest were all in the second bus…so sad but just like what i have said we had no choice…

we have finally arrived at silang around 8:30AM our CI have given us roughly one hour to have all our groceries done and after that we were leaving…unlike last week me and averil have already prepared a menu for the rest of our stay…i prepared to cook sotanghon con chicken and ampalaya and adobong kangkong with sliced pork…

after grocery…we went up straight to our service “jeepney” and we were all set to go!!!

REMINISCING THE AHSE DAYS…

after lunch we were all headed out for different job to finish…the surveys, interview of barangay officials, tallying etcetera etcetera…i feel like we were again back in our “AHSE MOMENTS”-house to house survey, data collation, interview of officials, tallying, problem identification, prioritization, justification, project proposal plan, presentation of data….waaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! its all coming back….DEJAVU…

at nanay penny’s house…graxa and jackie’sfoster family…

kulitan blues…

we stayed up soooo late just to finish all the tallying and data collation because we dont have more time to gather all these things ths week was our last day to wrap thing up!!! tiring, draining, exhausting but still nothings beats the kulitan moments that makes difficult things as light as feather…soft, light and gentle as a wind…so even if everybody’s really tired and all drain we still find ourselves enjoying because we were working as a FAMILY…

at nanay aning’s house…soooo late at night…

CONTINUATION: from the adventure starts right here

so where did i stop?!? oh the lights off of 1st day…

JULY 26, 2008

wow! i had a great night ( i mean if i could still call that night 1 in the moring…) but really i had a very satisfying rest…we both still didnt want to get up but we have to…we set our alarm 5:00 AM but we got up to our bed 5:30 AM…whew still sleepy 😦 though…after that we started preparing and laying our clothes on the bed and went straight to kitchen to prepare our food…while averil was inside the bathroom bathing, i was the one cooking…guess what i was cooking?! hotdogs?!? eggs?! na ah…its……PORK CHOP!!! yes yes! i marinated the pork last night so it was pretty tasty…hahaha now atleast i know that i do know how to cook (atleast!!!kahit prito prito lang hahaha…) so after cooking- bathe, prepared ourselves and ate…

8 AM CALL TIME AT C.I.’s HOUSE

everybody was already there so we started our pre-conference…we divided our tasks and started working…others went to interview barangay leaders and officials, some went to computer shop to fix the cst and for reproduction and few went out for the spot mapping..supposedly oafie, marlon and i were assigned to interview the barangay captain but because he was in munipal hall for some meeting and for some business we joined the spot mappers and OUR JOURNEY HAVE BEGUN…

forever walkathon…hmmm because i was the assigned to do the description for the barangay i made this opportunity to site everything so that i know what to put in the descrption…the barangay malaking tatiao basically has a very very rich land…360 degress turn aside from the houses everything is green…beautiful flowers, trees and banana and pineapple plantations…and because we were doing spotmapping we have to to know every single path of the place by hook or by crook we have to know EVERYTHING…NO MORE NO LESS…

we were guided by one of the resident in the place, everybody calls him Mane so thats how we call him ( at first when i saw him i thought he was older than us but when our ci introduced us to him he was only 16 years old!!!really big guy!!!) we have walked on a very muddy road and sometimes we can hardly see the path because of the tall grasses…it was a bit scary especially for me- it was my 1ST time to walk on that kinda grassy path, i dont know if i was still stepping on the right ground or what…my imagination was soooooo active and i could imagine snakes and other creepy creature…i got a lil scared but i had fun…we git a little bonus one of the owner’s of the plantation gave us pineapples…how nice of them!!!

my cute pineapple…look hagardness…spiky hair hahaha, i also got my own crown hahahaha

look at my shoes, after a long walk in a grassy and very muddy road my shoe ended up like this…lucky me i brought rubber shoes…

after the long walk we had our LUNCH BREAK and we have to come back by 1:30 and start our VERY LONG JOURNEY…averil and i have decided to eat some of our leftovers besides we were also in a hurry…so after lunch we again started doing our thing…i thought we would be walking again in muudy road but we didnt but whats really amazing was we have gone to one out of the two rivers in the place…i was realy scaaaaarrrreeeedddd to death to go down…the road was so steep and i was really terrified that i might slipped and fall plus I HATE HEIGHTS I AM AN ACROPHOBIC so it was DOUBLE BURDEN for me…i really didnt want to go down but they pushed so i did and yes yes yes! i made it!!!! yehey!!! what i feeling- i didnt know to describe what exactly i felt but it was really good…the river was flowing freely, the water was clear but a lil trash was around the place…

it was a lot easier to went up and i had no difficulty going up…by 3:00 PM it was time for us to go back for our post conference because by 4:00 WE ARE GOING HOME BABY!!!!

everybodys excited to go home so was i…i miss my home, my bed, my pillow, TV and computer….waaaaahhhh again our jeep was filled with chaos….whoooohooo…

everybody’s excited to go home…look at those perfect smiles

and at the bus…

super drained and exhausted or maybe not…whew!!

till next week…COMMUNITY IMMERSION WEEK 2

CONTINUATION: from bye manila hello silang

so here’s the real adventure…its time to cook our food…oh my gosh!!! i feel like we were in a reality show- sort of survivor (not to the extent that we are in a jungle and we have to hunt or swim just to have our food…thats too much!) or extra challenge (not that we have to eat exotic foods or some slimy and eewwwyyy foods) but the feeling of “you’re doings things that ypu barely dont know” waaahhhhh it was soooo terrifying….we prepared all the ingredients thats needed for our menu (ground pork con carrots and potatoes) and while preparing all the ingredients i started to cook the rice (i know how to cook this so no sweat! hahaha yabang!!!!) after that averil started to heat our pan and start sauteing-pour the ground add some water let it simmer add the potatoes and carrots and lastly the tomato sauce …we were laughing all throught the cooking process because we dont know whats next or whats going to happen…BUT heres the catch “it went really well…its good…its pleasant and the taste was terrific!!!” for a newbie like us- it was an achievement!!! we were soooo happy…

here’s the picture of our lovely ground pork con carrots and potatoes…yummy!!!

im one of a heck proud!!!

tinola and ground pork con carrots and potatoes (in short giniling..hahahaha)

i thought we were going to eat nothing but fake food but i guess i was wrong…we survived and i promised (we both promised that we have to learn to cook something before friday strikes…)

after that 2pm was supposedly our call time but the very unpredictable weather humps and bumps again and the heavy (suppperrr duppperrrr heavy rain) poured like forever so we have to stay put and wait till the rain have decided to rest…luckily kat and jean’s house was just a block away so we stayed there until the weather calmed…around 3:30 pm we started our walkathon-wow! it took us quite a long time before we have finally reached the barangay hall…

of course like any other activity it all starts with “introducing ourselves” so we did- it was cool because juist like what i have said half od the group were new faces so it was really nice to hear something from them…our clinical instructors also introduced thenselves- sir mahinay and mam uy…

mam uy blown me away-wow! she is really dedicated to her work…she is born to serve people and i was just really amazed on how she reached and touched each and everyone’s heart…she is so inspiring and because of her words theres some kind of force that pushes you to do more…

after that they told us to look into the previous data, fix our cst and settle all the things that we have to accoplish, they leave us and they will come back after an hour or two and we will go outside and do our ocular survey…we talked things over and the committes have been set…

time for us to have our break- we ate and some of us played with the kids…patintero-how lovely to see how 19 and 20 year old grown-ups run and play with 7-8 years old kids…ITS PERFECT AND ITS PRICELESS!!!

OCULAR SURVEY

again we walk walk and walk…but mind you with the cool and gentle blow of the wind plus the breath-taking view of the tatiao you wont feel like your feet starts to get numb and your knees starts to shake…manila is way way different from tatiao-pollution vs cool gentle wind, nature vs industrialization, great people vs bunch of starngers…

ocular survey

nature at its best

nothing beats the nature when it shouts and bares everything out

after our sight seeing…its time to go home and cook and be back by 8pm for some discussion and after that we went to the wake of nanay teoti’s mom…we offered some prayers and after that we mingled with the rest of the people…we played cards and others joined in playing bingo…

having the time of our life

12 am-its time to go home…take agood rest and be ready for some action tomorrow…our call time 8am…we we got home, that was the time i really felt that oh yeah! im pagod nah but i still need to do my feedback journal…while writing it averil and i were not talking at all…we were both reallt drained and exhausted and all we want was to finish this thing and lie on our bed and sleep…we finished doing it around 1 in the morning after and after that  we wnet straight to our bed said goodnight to each other and…

LIGHTS OFF DAY ONE!!!

3rd installment: community immersion week 1: last drop of sweat

im back from the land of pineapples, pomelos, bananas, beautiful flowers and where all the nicest and most hospitable pinoys that i have ever met live….somewhere in the SOUTH…barangay malaking tatiao, silang cavite…

woah! i really had a blast!!i dont know how to describe what i felt and how am i going to tell all the stuffs that i have experienced!!! lots of first times, adventures and all the unpredictable events…hmmmmppp but never the less i had sooooooo much fun..really i love the experience and im sooooooo excited to go back…

ok lets start at the very beginning…

JULY 25, 2008

3:00 am- i had to woke very very early as in supppperrrrr duuuupppperrrr early!!!!i had no choice coz if i wont get up- i myself would suffer…

these things were heavy…clothes, toiletries, beddings, books and FOODS!!!

i left my home with my two huge bags…when i say huge- i mean REALLY HUGE…im not kidding!!! my mom and my sisters always crack some jokes and tease me that everytime i had to leave the house i feel like bringing the whole house and i carry all the things and pack everything up!!! haiizzz i cant help myself but packing all the stuffs that i wanted to carry with me…i know that i will be the one who will suffer because of huge luggage but i really dont care…its ok with me to carry heavy luggage than to suffer washing clothes and finding all the stuffs that i needed- that is a waste of time PLUS waste of money baby!!! and i dont want that…hehehe…

so just like i imagined, i will have a tough time carrying my BAGS…and i did!! by 4:30 i left the house with my dad carrying one of my bags…and after an hour of travel i arrived at the waiting area around 5:30 in the morning…early early as a bee…hahaha

so my groupmates, classmates and others in the different class have started to pile up…and it was really kinda funny to see that most of us really got a 2 huge bags but the amazing part was some of my classmates got to have an average size of bag and take note ONE as in one bag!!! can you believe it! me i couldnt!!! really  i was amazed!!! it was really COOL…

after a long wait, we have decided to went up to our bus and start fixing everything so we can sit and take a good rest while still waiting for the others…6:00 strikes and we were still not in the good shape…so we wait wait and wait, others went down to buy some foods and stuff…the seats were starting to fill in with other class and there were still handful of the class not around…and when the bus have decided to go- WAIT!!!! others were out of the bus-2 were buying and the other one still wandering…haizzzz HURRY GUYS!! our bus was set to go…everybody’s shouting and the bus was filled of chaos…waaaahhhhhh!!!!!! but thank god they all got in…so WE WERE SET TO GO!!!

bye manila…and after two hours of travel SAY HELLO TO SILANG CAVITE…so together with all our stuffs we went down and we wait for our clinical instructors to pick us up and go straight to our assigned place…so when we met our clinical instructors…our group have been divided to 5 subgroups- (1)michael,aj and marlon will be living together, (2) oafie and vivi, (3) graxa and jackie, (4) jinnyber and kat, (5) me and averil…EXCITING and at the same time CHALLENGING especially for averil and I, why?!? because we have a major problem…WE BOTH DO NOT KNOW HOW TO COOK..and WE ARE SO DEAD…do we have any choice?!?none…WE HAVE TO DO IT!!! this is sooooo scary…

so we were sent to the market to buy all the things that we needed…this is sooo new to me…i hate going to grocery store, i dont know how to pick good meat and fresh vegetables…im newbie and i hate it!!! hay naku…after this one and when we got home i have to ask my mo to teach me how to cook and have to learn fast!!!!!so here’s our list:

BREAKFAST: loaf bread

LUNCH: we have to prepare to 2 lunches so we have decided to cook (1) ground pork con carrots and potatoes (2) pork chop

DINNER: again we have to prepare 2 dinner so we have decided to cook (1) tinolang manok (2) fried chicken

so after that we went up to our jeepney and ready ourselves to what hell of a ride!!!weeeheeee……

ride was awesome…the road was getting narrower and narrower, it curves and it ups and downs we were like on a amusement park enjoying some kiddie rides!!!!

WELCOME TO PUROK 4 MALAKING TATIAO,SILANG CAVITE

before we are headed out to our foster families…we had a stop over to our CI and 6 guys foster family and had our pre conference and some briefing…and that was the time when we have found out that group 43 and group 44 will merge…in short will be working as 1 TEAM…thats good at least the load will be carried by 22 hands and the effort will be doubled…the flow of our discussion: we will be  meeting our foster family, cook our food and be back by 2:00 pm in the barangay hall and start the ball rolling!!!

after briefing…finally we will be able to meet our foster family…yehey! MEET  NANAY TEOTI AND FAMILY…we were sorta in a bad timing because nanay teoti and her family were in the middle of crisis and they’re grieving because of a great loss of nanay teoti’s mother…nanay teoti and lester have welcomed us warmly but ofcourse the vibe and the surrounding was a bit gloomy because of the said story…

we fixed and organized our things and to our surprise we have our OWN ROOM…wow! they have really prepared something for us..we have our own bed and pillows…they are sooooo kind! and even they were experiencing this loss they still welcomed us with a very BEAUTIFUL AND WARMING SMILE…i am so overwhelmed!!!
